If you applied for the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) scheme or the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) scheme or the Afghanistan Locally Employed Staff Ex-Gratia scheme (EGS) on or before 7 January 2022, you can use the links on this page to check if you may have been affected by the data incident.
Important points to note
- We can only state whether the reference you enter is likely to have been affected by the data incident, based on the information we currently hold.
- Even if we believe that the reference is likely to have been affected, we cannot immediately:
- confirm this with 100% certainty for everyone
- confirm whether any of your personal data may have been affected
- confirm whether your family or dependants are affected. (you should assume they may be affected if you gave their details in the application to which this reference relates)
- Please don't call us to ask these questions, as for data protection and security reasons, our call handlers are unable to discuss personal data over the phone.
- Alternatively, if you are not a potentially affected person but want to know more about the incident. Please read through the linked webpages but do not send an enquiry (unless you have formal deputy powers for someone who is affected), as we cannot give any information about other people and additional questions will make it harder for us to respond to those who are affected.
- If your reference is confirmed as not being affected, information associated with it has not been compromised.
You are not affected and do not need to check your status if:
- You first applied to ARAP or EGS after 7 January 2022.
- You never applied to ARAP or EGS.
If you have formally registered with the UK Ministry of Defence as a recognised Deputy, acting on behalf of a past applicant. You should enter their reference into the self-checker.
There are two routes to find out if your reference number is potentially affected:
- If you have all your ARAP, EGS, or ATAE reference available click here to visit the self-checker. This is the quickest option as you will receive an immediate affected/not affected response concerning the reference used. If you only know some of your references you should still enter them into the self-checker, as it would be quicker than using the contact form route.
- If you don't know some of your ARAP, EGS, or ATAE reference, you can use this contact form to message us. We will reply as quickly as possible once we have checked your details; however, this may take some time depending on the volume of enquiries we receive.
If you need audio help to understand this information or are having trouble following these instructions, you can call 0800 021 4110 at any time. If you are in Afghanistan, there is a risk that calls made to the phone line may be monitored.
Please be aware that as we are unable to verify the identity of callers, for security reasons we are unable to:
- discuss individual cases over the telephone
- tell you whether you might be affected
